Thursday evening, I headed down to Guildhall Square in Southampton with some of the other Southampton Bloggers to have a sneak peek and be the first ones on the sand of Seaside In The Square.
Go!Southampton have set up a legit beach in the middle of Southampton for everyone to enjoy – what’s even better it’s free!
I had heard whispers on Facebook of it happening, saw a few people become interested in the event on facebook and thought that would be so cool but honestly put it down to one of them really cool events you see on Facebook but never actually go through. So when more plans started to come into place I got super excited about it.
As part of our evening on the sand we also got a cocktail masterclass with Orange Rooms (which is my absolute fave bar/club if you didn’t know!)
I heard the beach before I saw it. Immediate Ibiza beach vibes hit and I was sold. Music is played live Friday, Saturday and Sunday with vibes ranging from party to chill out. We had an a amazing sax player playing with some beats and honestly it was amazing!
We were so lucky with the weather too, sunny and hot made it all the more believable that we were on a beach! And what’s a beach without sand? 70 tonnes (yes you heard) of sand has been shipped in to make the ‘floor’ of the beach. Theres also a deeper sand area for all activities such as volleyball and yoga.
We were so warmly welcomed and told to explore and have fun with the beach before everyone else arrived (cue all the bloggers jumping on beanbags and the boat!)
As you enter the beach there are loads of huge deckchairs – perfect for an Instagram opportunity!
We were then ushered over to the Orange Rooms pop up bar to learn how to make their Mojito – with a twist. Is it even Orange Rooms if theres not a twist?
Excuse any resting bitch face in these photos – I cannot do candid apparently!
This mojito was literally amazing, I loved it. Super sweet and the twist of using basil instead of mint was a game changer for me!
If the beach wasn’t instagrammable enough – Ikea have set up a corner with little beach huts to chill in. It’s absolute gorgeous and the perfect chill out zone.
Food was kindly served by Mettricks and was super tasty. The rest of the evening we chilled, drank our cocktails and nibbled. Enjoying the music and just the sheer bliss of feeling like we were abroad!
Thank you to Go!Southampton, Orange Rooms and Southampton Bloggers for organising everything for us! It was such an amazing evening and I will definitely be back, make sure you catch the beach soon as it runs from 20th July – 22 August!
