Travelling around Kefalonia in the Ionian Islands, Greece

For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram, last month me and Andy travelled to Kefalonia in the Ionian Islands  in Greece to kickstart my 21st birthday. It was the most unforgettable experience and I fell in love with this island all over again (we visited 2 years ago – you can check out my original blog post here)

There’s something that can’t quite match those crystal blue, warm waters and endless blue skies. The feeling of ambling down to breakfast at 7am when the temperature is already 25 degrees and not having a care in the world for the whole day. Holidays are so incredible and I love the me time involved, and spending time with my loved one. Nothing can beat it.

Here is our week in pictures, what I love most about Kefalonia is that not many people know about it which is what makes it all the more special. It’s relatively untouched by tourists and you can really experience that small town Greek culture.

We stayed at the Tesoro Blu Hotel and Spa and it was incredible as expected.  If you’re thinking of going to Kefalonia definitely give this hotel a try, the staff are so welcoming and the whole atmosphere and location is just perfect.

Before when we came, we had an accident on a moped the day before my birthday, the day before we had seen a turtle bracelet in the shop window that I loved but due to the accident the next day we left the island without it. 2 years on and the same bracelet was waiting there for me. And so, this was my 21st gift. Absolutely perfect.

To celebrate my birthday we hired a boat to sale round the island for the day. It was magical being able to find coves and abandoned beaches all to ourselves. We snorkelled and had a picnic and the views were just to die for. I thoroughly recommend seeing any island by boat, it only cost €127 for the whole day including fuel and we really did have access to so much more of the island than anyone else.

For those who don’t know, I absolutely adore sea turtles. They’re my favourite animal ever and to see one roaming in the wild was such an incredible experience. We saw 11 in the end and every one of them were so magical. They were so curious and it was such a joy to see them feeding, playing and chasing eachother.

Constantly needing a nap everywhere I go, especially in a hot country.

This was the first holiday where I felt truly happy and confident with my body, I’ve worked so hard to lose the weight I put on after the accident and, although it’s not perfect, I’m so proud of myself and my body for what it’s achieved.
